Superterranean (2020) is my first feature film, a dark folktale shot on a shoestring budget with a skeleton crew, it took years to make. It saw us shooting on the summits of Munros, on cold bothy floors and in the hills at midnight.
When making this film, the challenges kept on coming. It was a complicated, gruelling movie to shoot and the release was hampered by the Covid 19 pandemic.
Determined to use this project as an opportunity to develop my skills, I took on the entirety of the pre and post-production roles, including writing, producing, sound-mixing, colour grading and scoring the film.
Sair Ane means “sore one”, and is a Scots’ phrase used to express sympathy for a person’s misfortune:
Filmed in a single location with no budget and no crew during the strictest lockdown restrictions of the coronavirus pandemic, this little video nasty is not for the faint hearted.
Don't try this at home
An Gordonach is the battle cry of the Gordon Clan. With the emblem of a stag and the motto "Bydand" (Bide and fecht, or 'stand and fight'), the Clan has a reputation for its steadfast and undaunted approach. When the Gordon Brothers make a film, we don't do things the easy way. We work hard, in whatever the conditions and we get the job done. Our ideas are our own, whether I'm working with my brother or my friends, we don't compromise and we don't answer to anyone. We have a vision and the courage to see it through. When you see An Gordonach at the start of a film, prepare for battle!
